Institute of Comparative Law

The main activity of the Institute of Comparative Law is comparative research. Institute collects, translates and researches data on legislation, legal science and practice in other countries and analyses important issues of international and comparative law. Also, researches the European Union law and is engaged in the harmonisation of serbian law with the European law..

In the Institute’s journal 150 foreign and domestic authors published their articles.

For the last five years, more precisely since 2006. till 2010 (journals No. 1-3/ 2006 – No 3/ 2010), many foreign and domestic authors published their articles in our journal. Around 117 authors with 150 different articles, that says a lot about a great reputation that our Journal has in scientist public. Let us hope that this will continue in the future. Here is the list of all authors and their articles that were published in our journal.

24.12. 2010. Institute made an agreement with the ministry of justice Republic of Serbia.

On Friday, 24.12. 2010, Ministry of Justice Republic of Serbia and Institute of Comparative Law concluded the Protocol on cooperation. According to this Protocol and its possibilities, Institute will provide ministry of Justice Republic of Serbia the results of precious and nowadays researches. Institute of Comparative law will also make some new researches and will provide consulting services. Both sides are obliged to put efforts to help each others. This Protocol is the first of its kind, which is concluded between Institute of Comparative law and Ministry of Justice Republic of Serbia.

On the 55^th Belgrade Book Fairy, Institute of Comparative Law together with Institute of Contemporary History has its stand, where they exposed their books and journals. A lot of people visited our stand, which was a good advertisement for the Institute. Among the visitor was one special guest – Minister of Science, mr Božidar Đelić.

On the 30. 10. 2010, we organized a small presentation of our publications with a pleasant talk about our books. We had an opportunity to have a conversation with our colleagues from Institute of Contemporary History, about future cooperation and possible historical- legal projects. We can freely say that the Fairy was a success and we hope we will be there next year.

This year, like the year before, we received a king letter from the famous Harvard University USA. Last year they thanked us for the books “Introduction to USA’s law” and “Kosmet- Gordijev čvor” . this year they accepted to include into their library two of our new books “ Serbian law in transition- Changes and Challenges” and “ Tužilac i žrtve” and sent us a letter in which they thank for the gift. This kind of practice will continue in the future, so we hope get a similar letter next year.
